How Online, Software and Hardware impacted our Production

Software

During the production process of creating our editing sequence, software was not a major part. However, it becomes perhaps the most important aspect in the post-production process - read more on the 'Post-Production' tab.

Hardware

In production, hardware became vital to creating our opening scene. We used all of the following 4k Black Magic Mini Ursa, iPhone 12, Sennheiser Shotgun Microphone, Lexar Pro Memory Card and the Vinten Tripod. On the day, to capture the footage we used the 4k Black Magic Mini Ursa. We had learned how to use the camera during the camera workshops so we felt comfortable in using the camera to it's full potential. We used the camera at various angles creating dynamic and engaging shots, even taking the camera of the tripod. The Vinten Tripod helped with this as we moulded it to fit our needs by changing the height and angle of the camera and it's lens. When using our camera, we zoomed in and out aligning with our shot list and took multiple attempts on each shot ensuring we would have an abundance of footage when we finally began editing our sequence. We used the Lexar Pro Memory Card to save the footage as it was shot which we later used in the editing process. Our microphone was the Sennheiser Shotgun Microphone. The microphone plugged into the camera with a wire. Each shot was different so the microphone had to be adaptable. The microphone was handheld meaning one person in the group had to hold the microphone towards the actor in order to capture the sound we wished to use. We rotated who would use the microphone over the course of the whole day.

Online

During production, online was important as it was one of the ways the crew communicated. The online platform we used was the social media platform snapchat. We used snapchat to collectively refer to our timetable and communicated what we would be shooting and where. In addition, we used snapchat to share photos and videos of the shooting day which we would later use to create blog posts and behind the scenes videos. On the production day, we also used outlook to email the cast about meeting as a group before travelling to the site.
