Pre-Production
Hardware
During the pre-production process, we used hardware to begin formulating our opening scene. Once we had pitched our concept and got given the green light we used an iPhone 12 to test our concept in a test shoot. We used the phone on a tripod and handheld to capture the footage which we later edited on iMovie (software). The iPhone 12 has a microphone integrated in the machinery meaning we did not need to use the addition of a microphone on our test shoot. Moreover, in the pre-production process, the group engaged in multiple practical workshops which enhanced our skills and knowledge of our equipment including the 4K Black Magic Mini Ursa, the Vinten Tripod and the Sennheiser Shotgun Microphone. The workshops for these took place over two sessions and we took part in various activities to improve our knowledge. We learned about both theory and practical aspects of the equipment and shot basic scenes to make us comfortable using the equipment.

Software
During pre-production, we used the software iMovie (created by Apple) to edit our test shoot which proved to the group that our concept would create an engaging opening scene on the screen. On iMovie, we reviewed all the footage from our test shoot and joined the successful footage together creating our opening scene. In addition, we shot and edited a dialogue sequence enabling us to practice our skills with the software Adobe Premier Pro. We edited the various shots together, used the 180 degree rule in the sequence and had to edit sound for the first time which added extra complications.

Online
During the pre-production process, we used multiple online platforms to create our opening scene. We used the platform Google to research practitioners of the film industry such as Saul and Elaine Bass to inform our choices when creating an opening scene. We also used Google and Amazon to buy props and materials for the shoot to feature in our opening scene. In addition, Youtube became a source of inspiration from us as we could view similar products such as 'The Blair Witch Project' and gather information on what was successful in their scenes. Blogger became a major part of our pre-production process. We used blogger to record and plan our opening scene. Blog posts that helped us to plan include: 'The Group Shot List', 'Shooting Schedule', 'Call Sheet' and many more. Furthermore, we used Youtube to exhibit our test shoot which allowed us to integrate the clip on blogger allowing us to practice our skills before creating the opening title sequence.
